My buddy nick decided to do an oil change on his Explorer (after lord knows how long) but forgot to drain the old oil out, and added an additional 5 quarts. He also managed to strip the oil filter threads on the block. I guess it drove a mile or so before shutting off with the 10 or so quarts in it. We replaced the battery, and then I helped him pull and replace the plugs and we tried to get it going, and then I noticed the stripped oil filter threads. Instead of messing with it, he ended up junking the Explorer and buying a Durango.

Thanks for watching!

You forget to drain oil when doing an oil change?….how is that even possible? I dont even see the level of stupidity for someone to think "im going to change my oil today, so im going to start filling up my car with 5Q of oil". Its hard to believe this guy thought what he was doing was changing the oil, or maybe all he did was check the dipstick and saw that it was low and thought changing the oil ment just adding new oil ontop of the old one idk either way that was really something else

There is nothing wrong with accidently overfilling. Just don't start it up! Drain and refill.

10 quarts of oil in the car should we drain it or should we just keep turning the car on and off?
