finding a good mechanic is like trying to find a gem in the ocean.. not happening
I don't think this is as definitive as he makes it. If you're stopping your car for a minute or so, the oil is still warm and covering surfaces – sure it isn't as immersed, but it isn't terrible. Idling when cold can cause some blowby because it doesn't warm up as much as under load. Cam lobes on a well maintained engine shouldnt go out before 200k at the least.
Hey Scotty, I heard about those start stop features being common place even in manual cars in Europe, is it really worse of a system to have than just stay on idle? My brother' has a start stop car, and he told me the car keeps a record of start stops and the system actually disables itself once it has a certain "milage" or better known as starting count.
That system being aside though, I wonder how much money you actually save on gas compared to how much you're spending money to replace the starter and costs from wear and tear on other parts like you said about the cams.
Alrighthhhhhhhhhhhhhy!
Does anyone else notice Scotty’s hand gestures by his mouth in every video ?
We had the stop-start function on our work cars. I turned it off every time I drove. Not because I cared about the engine but because it look valuable time off if you needed to go-quickly.
The most wear your car gets is ON start up. Not upon start up.
How about the morons that start their car to let it warm up and blast their hip hop
So, they use Auto-Stop mechanism to make your engine worse, so they can replace it faster?
Rite on scotty! I drive f150 manual.. Love my truck! Got a question. Do you really need to flush the stearing fluid and brake fluid in the clutch?
