If the price of fuel is going up due to the war in Ukraine, driving the cost of electric energy up, then surely this is a good reason to turn to hybrid and electric cars, i.e. if the economic factor is the only one taken into account, not the other way around.

I had a boat several years ago fitted with a BMC 2.2 litre diesel ( the London taxi engine). It had 100 psi oil pressure and leaked oil everywhere. A friend also had one and it was the same.

You’d think electric cars would make more sense in England since you can drive coast to coast and back on a single charge. And the higher voltage outlets should mean they can charge faster with the same amount of amperage.
I guess not enough people have the ability to charge at home?
Charging overnight at home is the big game changer with EVs and PHEVs. If you can charge at home, you almost never have to worry about charging unless you drive for most of your day.
