    im a mechanic …chrysler FWD auto trans…oh lord! but to be fair they got better, in the 80's and 90's they'd blow up anywhere from 25k miles to 60k miles …now you see some of them going to 100K (divide the milage by 2 if you open the throttle more than 3/4 on a weekly basis)

    Early third gen f-cars had major issues, ranging from early probs with the 700r4, cross fire injection, and the 350 didn't come out until 87, not to mention rust. T-top cars leak real bad, and avoid any car that doesn't have 4 wheel discs, unless you can avoid any emergency stops, or have money to upgrade. The entire 'collector' car industry also seems to be going the way of the tulip craze. Full disclosure, my first f-car was an 85, 305 4bbl, hard top, and don't miss it much. 4th gens are much better vehicles, but that isn't saying a whole lot either, and 2 of then currently own me.
