I ride a bicycle locally, anything within 10 miles

    Hello Scotty,
What happens when you run out of battery juice when your out on the road?
You can’t just get a gal of gas and get you going.
Do you have to have it towed to the nearest charging station?
    Just wondering.

Iv never seen a rechargeable battery last longer than a couple years…I’m sure the batteries on EVs are way more advanced, but I’m skeptical of 15 years…and what about the battery losing some of its power over time ,at year 10 I imagine the miles per kWh will drop

Once they get everyone switched to electric and you no other options the price to charge the EV will go way way up!!

Scotty needs to tell people how to lower their electric prices at home because most if not all of the electric companies provide some sort of TOU or EV plan which will lower your electric cost below the average. Even California in San Diego (the most expensive city in the US for electricity) you can get $0.09 cents there is no way that other states are higher. Why even suggest charging during the day unless its an emergency, and why doesn't he tie it in to Solar which takes care of all your day time expensive charges which means anything in excess is always on some discounted rate closer to $0.09 cents no matter where you are. You start off everyday with 70-100% depending on what your doing, getting that down to 0 during the day and still needing to drive another 300 miles is unrealistic unless your an uber driver, day charging is just not a thing usually.

Also need to mention that the most common battery degradation is close to 1% per annum with the first year being the highest closer to 2%, and this is mostly because people don't know how to properly charge these batteries and over charge them everyday, and let them stay low for prolonged periods.

I'm on my second EV car in 6 years and I have saved over $47,000 in gas and repairs vs a regular car its not even a competition. I can go from San Diego to LA and back for $6 dollars that's 50 miles on a hybrid worth of gas only 1/5 of the way.

Focusing on the negatives and what if's a platform is ridiculous, every car manufacturer sells lemons or cars with issues.

Let's say your in the market for a new car. Used cars are a bad buy right now, so let's buy a new one instead (i know bad depreciation). Average new car costs about 33k, and new EV costs about 40k. If we drive 15,000 miles a year, and get about 25mpg thats about 550 gallons per year. At a cost of about $4 a gallon, that's about $2300 a year. And after 10 years that's $22,000 a year. Charging will be abut 5k in that same time period. Its not a HUGE difference but with almost non-existant maintenance on EVs your are gonna be saving about $25k over the 10 year life span. Its not as small as Soctty is making it out to seem imo.

Answered some of my questions. For now, I'll just stick to gas, and continue waiting for the Fuel Cells to come out.

Only two things in this life are certain; death and taxes. They will put the road taxes on to tire sales or when you go renew your registration.

Batteries not only degrade with use but over time. A 10 year old low milage ice will perform close to what it was when it was new. Yet a 10 year old EV will have degraded considerably no matter how many miles it's been driven.
