I've used PVC as extension, but sometimes the pvc breaks. It'll work for 10 to 20 times, but then start to crack. Such is the nature of PVC piping.

I had to replace all my lug nuts recently. What I thought were chrome nuts turned out to be chrome plated Steele. Over time the extreme heat and cold cause them to warp. It becomes difficult to remove them with a standard lug wrench. I bought a set and held them to my next tire rotation.
Somehow I half-expected Scotty to fart while he was bent over, reefing on those lug nuts.

I find that throwing colorful curse-words directly at the problem works very well.
A boss of mine back in the nineties got a flat outside of town and he only had a Thorsen, 1960's, half inch breaker and a socket to get the lugs off. The shop had hammered on them tires to a ridiculous degree and they gu, about 200 pounds jumping up and down on the breaker bar couldn't break the lugs loose. I said I'd try and since I am not one of those who make terrific faces when exerting myself the guy yells, "C'mon, put some effort into it." I warned him if I tried any harder I might snap off the studs, or maybe break the socket or breaker bar." He guffawed and said, "You ain't breaking that breaker bar, it's an old Thorsen my dad owned."
After I snapped the breaker bar in half, and thank goodness there was eight inches of snow on the ground or I'd have broken my hand, he screams, "You broke my breaker bar!"
I think he saw the look on my face which was something like, "and your face next," and backed off.
