The Lexus is surprisingly quiet.
Bought an 83 rabbit diesel from a coworker of mine for $900 in 1987. He wanted to unload it cause it leaked whenever it rained. I realized it was a bad front window seal and had it replaced for $80. Boy he was pissed. 2 years later I bought my last new car; a Jetta diesel for $9500. It got 45mpg. I drove it for 145k miles with nothing but oil and filter changes, new tires and brakes. I sold it for $4500 5 years later. Too bad VW (and Mercedes) don't make bullet proof cars anymore.

I had an 85 Jetta, 1.4L Turbo-diesel >use to average 50~54-Mpg ( Cdn Gal 4.56L) but towing an all metal home made trLr to Montreal 300miles at 120~140Km/per hr dragged the Fuel Mileage down to 39! I sure miss it!! When the price of Gas shoots up, that old rabbit will be sought after !!
