Got my CFI in 1978 and taught essentially non-stop since through my airline career
Now I’m teaching glider flying, where student REALLY learn to fly 🙂
That said, I think you quit before it got good (at a major).

Still going to fly
As soon as I was old enough to talk I wanted to work on cars. I was gonna be the best mechanic around.. now, I try and avoid telling people I used to do it and sold every tool I own within a year of quitting. I didn’t know what I was gonna do, I just realized it was not for me anymore. It worked out to be one of the best decisions I ever made.

Your going to grind 8 years to make money just like any other professional career. It sucks. Lots of friends are pilots, I are a pilot. Some fly regional and are captians now doing just fine. Some went military and grinded for years and risked life and limb. And some grinded other careers until they made money and bought their own plan like me. It took me till late 30s to be able to own my own plane. It just takes time. Then some democrats hates you and wants your money after you took 20 years getting it…
