Everyone knows that “Motorcycle” is synonymous with “Freedom” … but why? Motorbikes have the same dynamics as bicycles and go to the same places as cars – what’s so free about that?

Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance:

Fair warning – this is a challenging read. Asking what makes freedom “free” is child’s play compared to Pirsig’s query: what makes good “good”? Fascinating!

it is actually the opposite 😀 There are so many things you can't do on a 2 wheel bicycle with an engine/motor that you can do in a 4 wheeled vehicle. It is not about Freedom, it is more about danger.

next step is how convince the wife, I bet she can barely understand this very definition of freedom

one other thing that adds to that freedom motorcycles get amazing mpg allowing you to travel farther and more often for a lot less money therefore increasing your freedom.

Some will never understand ! So be it ! Just take your bike some ten days riding without destinaton, directions, Cell phone, reservations, or time frame. After a few days on the road riding thru several countries, you now what freedom is.

It's just a simple marketing term, because you're "Free" from being able to carry groceries, your kids or even that table you bought…

To me, it's " get the hell away from everyone else for a short while"

MC's require so little effort to control precisely, especially, at higher speeds, when the gyroscopic precession is much stronger. For straight line travel, the MC is driving itself. For turns, just a couple of fingers pressing down lightly on handlebar end and a smooth, arcing turn happens, as the whole MC revolves around its center mass. This "barrel roll" resembles flying in an airplane, so a slalom ride can be as fun as a carnival ride.

Hell even my 225cc can go 0-100 kph in a shockingly short time, 0-60 kph at that lights before I can blink.
