Charles Stanley and Anna Stanley divorce created a public disturbance, especially among his congregants.
Lots of their followers have been questioning to find out what happened to them after the unfortunate breakup. Let’s find out.
The theologian Charles Stanley tied the knot in 1955. He married Anna Stanley after a church deacon introduced them. Charles has often stated that she was not the usual type he would go for.
Together, the couple has two children, Andy Stanley & Becky Stanley. Andy is the founder and senior pastor for the North Point Community Church in Alpharetta, Georgia. Becky Stanley has kept her life private, but according to sources, she is married and has two children.
Charles Frazier Stanley was born on September 25, 1932, in Dry Fork, Virginia. Charles pursued a Bachelor’s degree at the University of Richmond before proceeding to Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Texas for a Master of Divinity degree.
Charles and Anna seemed to enjoy a blissful marriage, but things were not as they appeared. In his 1991 publication, How to Handle Adversity, the pastor shares how he got busy when they moved to Atlanta.
He states that it literally looked as if he was married to the ministry and began to neglect his family. This, he says, caused Anna immense pain and rejection. It took him several years to realize the damage he had caused.
However, Andy also writes that despite the prevailing issues, his parents opposed divorce, so none of them wanted to initiate it.
In 1993, Anna Stanley decided to start the process. She filed for divorce but later amended it to a request for “separate maintenance”. Which was not approved so she refiled in 1995.
The separation caused much tension within the Christian community and, more so, Stanley’s local church.
The divorce process was eventually concluded in 2000 when it was officially announced. Despite calls from some clergy, Stanley continued with his ministry that he should step aside for some time to get his life back in order.
In 2020, Charles Stanley stepped down from the position of senior pastor at First Baptist Church. He stated that the time had come for him to do so, and George, his assistant of many years, would be taking over the helm.
Anna stayed away from the spotlight but continued to serve actively in various churches. Anna Stanley remained unmarried until the time of her death.
Dr. Charles Stanley’s divorce from his wife in 2000 was reportedly caused by what his former wife described as many years of marital disappointments and conflict.
Charles and Andy rebuilt their relationship by spending time together and by seeking counseling. Eventually, they restored the bond that they had erroneously broken.

What about all the years Anna Stanley struggled with mental health issues? I would think that played a role in their marraige difficulties not just his work and ministry taking him away from her. Also her problems may have been a huge factor in how she perceived the years of "disappointment and conflict".
Perhaps she would have been better served to act as a partner in the ministry instead of a rival of the ministry. Maybe her issues kept her from being able to do so.
This is a great man of God. He preaches the truth, no compromise and he is dedicated to The Lord. I listen to him daily and his sermons have changed my life, gave revelation and confirmed prayer. I love this man!! Thank you Lord for using Dr. Stanley so mightily!
I thank Dr. Stanley for his commitment to serve God, and feed God’s sheep. I have come to know, trust, and believe in Jesus because of Dr. Stanley faithfulness to teach God’s word. He has led me and so many more people to Christ, to salvation. I can’t speak on what pain or sorrow you and your family may have been going through, but Jesus knows it all. I pray that I get so close to Jesus that I wouldn’t put anything or anyone before Him. I want to obey God and leave all the consequences to Him.
I’m also sorry for the lost of Anna Stanley, my prayers goes out to you and your family. Love you Dr. Stanley, and thank you so much for being a living disciple of Jesus. I’m so grateful to God for you. We need more Disciples like you in this world. One who speaks the truth and there’s no compromising God’s word. Be blessed.
Why does their son teach doctrines of demons having an anti-Christ spirit? 1 Timothy 4
I listened to Charles when I was a early Christian, and I thought what he taught was solid teaching, except I don't ever remember that he taught anything on Bible prophecy. Am I wrong about this, maybe? If I am not wrong, then this is the root of the disbelief that seems to affected his son who reject the Old Testament and sin according to God's Word.
Truly sad to see, but God is alway willing to forgive if we humble ourselves to repent, reform and revive for a life following Christ in heart and mind.
