Charles Stanley and Anna Stanley divorce created a public disturbance, especially among his congregants.
Lots of their followers have been questioning to find out what happened to them after the unfortunate breakup. Let’s find out.
The theologian Charles Stanley tied the knot in 1955. He married Anna Stanley after a church deacon introduced them. Charles has often stated that she was not the usual type he would go for.
Together, the couple has two children, Andy Stanley & Becky Stanley. Andy is the founder and senior pastor for the North Point Community Church in Alpharetta, Georgia. Becky Stanley has kept her life private, but according to sources, she is married and has two children.
Charles Frazier Stanley was born on September 25, 1932, in Dry Fork, Virginia. Charles pursued a Bachelor’s degree at the University of Richmond before proceeding to Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Texas for a Master of Divinity degree.
Charles and Anna seemed to enjoy a blissful marriage, but things were not as they appeared. In his 1991 publication, How to Handle Adversity, the pastor shares how he got busy when they moved to Atlanta.
He states that it literally looked as if he was married to the ministry and began to neglect his family. This, he says, caused Anna immense pain and rejection. It took him several years to realize the damage he had caused.
However, Andy also writes that despite the prevailing issues, his parents opposed divorce, so none of them wanted to initiate it.
In 1993, Anna Stanley decided to start the process. She filed for divorce but later amended it to a request for “separate maintenance”. Which was not approved so she refiled in 1995.
The separation caused much tension within the Christian community and, more so, Stanley’s local church.
The divorce process was eventually concluded in 2000 when it was officially announced. Despite calls from some clergy, Stanley continued with his ministry that he should step aside for some time to get his life back in order.
In 2020, Charles Stanley stepped down from the position of senior pastor at First Baptist Church. He stated that the time had come for him to do so, and George, his assistant of many years, would be taking over the helm.
Anna stayed away from the spotlight but continued to serve actively in various churches. Anna Stanley remained unmarried until the time of her death.
Dr. Charles Stanley’s divorce from his wife in 2000 was reportedly caused by what his former wife described as many years of marital disappointments and conflict.
Charles and Andy rebuilt their relationship by spending time together and by seeking counseling. Eventually, they restored the bond that they had erroneously broken.

For no man is perfect. I understand that. After 40 years!!! Mr Stanley needs to step away from any preaching, especially if he can't walk the talk. It looks like he had is past ex in his pocket. I can only pray for him. Remember people…." Beware of sheep in wolves clothing". Mr Stanley ought to get an apartment with David R. White…
Sio why you gae?
So this is why Paul Washer says, Bible first, Wife second, children third, Job fourth.
Because Stanley is a sodomite. Bam.
I'm glad to hear that Charles and Anna eventually got back together. However, I don't think the state needs to be involved in the divorce or marriage business. It's just a way for the state to continue extorting people in more tax money, and further control their lives.
Furthermore; if a Christian man needs a government piece of toilet paper to tell him how to be a father to his children or a good husband to his wife; then he isn't mature enough to be married in the first place.
This pastor saved my soul
Great teacher of the Word. If you're looking for perfection tho', you won't find it on Earth. So learn to dissect the truth in the Word from everything else.
Many of the responses to this video follow a predictable template. They will uphold all this man did as a conduit of grace, and ignore the fact that he was unqualified for ministry for a long time. Perhaps unqualified for the entire time. People continue to look to and elevate a man, defying Biblical Law about qualifications for ministry. The long-term consequences are devastating. The seeds of destruction will blossom at a point down the road, when it is not so clear what the root cause is.
I remember the announcement in 1993 I was a self supporting gospel seed sower in Japan and receiving monthly teaching cassette tapes from Dr. Stanley free, I gave many of the tapes away to my Ghanaian and Nigerian friends at church in Japan!
Now it’s unfortunate that Dr. Stanley refuses to admonish and correct Andy Stanley’s apostasy and heretical teachings!
Marital disappointment and conflict do not qualify for grounds for divorce and he knows it and Andy Stanley is out of control and needs to be corrected asap.
