Why can't you just reverse the two reluctor wires? My understanding is the difference between the HEI pickups is related to the magnetic field of the starter, depending on which side the starter is mounted? Which is strange, because My Buick has the starter on the passenger side and my Olds has the starter on the driver side. Both are supposed to have the black connector, so I never understood this. On top of that, the GM HEI module is a popular swap/mod for the hard to find early Ford electronic ignition distributor. Anyway, I've never run into this problem… Clear connector -> Pontiac Black connector – Buick/Olds Yellow connector -> Chevy/Cadillac
