The biggest spikes for electricity demand is aircon on bloody hot days. Take a block of flats with 20 units – EACH one wants to draw 20A for the AC, whereas usually the ENTIRE complex is drawing 60A – this is based off real world data. In this sense solar panels do generate electricity when it is the most useful.
The wire harness not being able to be replaced is really sus. That would seem like a really basic component to be able to sub out, akin to a gearbox or clutch or headlight.
Cm on John, can't you install a split unit a/c unit in the fat cave?
It's not that hard, nor super expensive.
There is a bush fix to get the battery back to the correct level check out out unplugged EV from Australia on youtube he use to have a Outlander Phev. there is a fault with the bms that artificially tricks itself into thinking the battery has degraded due to the way it was programmed. Unplugged EV eventually got a battery replacement but the degradation continued at a fast rate. the fix is to flatten the 12v battery to a certain level and I think to disconnect the 12v battery leads, this resets the bms and reads traction battery correct capacity which is fine due to the bms programming being wrong which can not be changed or repaired. check out his channel for the fix.
If this happened in a Hyundai/Kia or Toyota PHEV, I believe these companies would replaced the battery with a new one no questions asked as these companies would look after their customers. An implied statement by the car manufacturer of the vechicle should be upheld if your vechicle does not meet these expectations. I hope he gets a new battery installed to his Phev Mitsubishi Outlander.
"SIR..SIR! I can answer the new Defender question."
Can't fit smaller wheels to enable big fat and more aggressive tyres because JLR don't expect the new Defender to be taken off road. Their target market now is footballers and musicians who only care about image, not substance or ability and pillocks with more money than sense! And this comes from someone who currently drives and owns four Land Rovers but none newer than 2002!
That Dawn vice is a beauty. Personal fan here however getting a paint match to refresh the ambience is near impossible.
What happened to your vise? Is it a special kind? I've never seen the sliding part on an angle like yours. How do you rest things on it to give it a pisser with ya hammer?
John the electrification of the car will crash our power grid. Our blackout issues occur in summer when everyone is at home with the aircon on so a family drawing say 5kw/hr. Wind it forward to electric car ownership and charging at "off peak" 2 to 5 in the morning. Each household will start drawing more energy to charge the car then current blackout peak time. Australia is in trouble.
Imagine if a manufacturer had a marketing campaign that said "we strive for perfection and here is how we treat our customers when it's not perfect. If I where a manufacturer I would use this opportunity to build a close relationship with the customer to the point where I could ask them to share their experience and the happy outcome on social media. Even ask them for offical comment that could used by marketing department.
