If you're the only one you have to worry about then the bike could be a good way. If you got a family you can't really tell them "peace out, shoulda learned to ride". Your actual 4 wheeled rig will be superior in everyway other than form factor. It's fun to think about but you need to do more than just bug out and actually relocate, you'll be on the struggle bus.

All BS… guys talking… smaller, lighter, simpler is better… like the CT125 or an older DR 250…350. Kick start and basic.

If you are going big, ktm adventure(older 950), KLR 650 or even BMW GS. You can fully service the GS and KLR on the run. Screw and lock nut valves etc. The older KTM has carbs.
Older single cylinder 4 strokes were simple to maintain. But you do give up power

As a bug out you'd be better with a Honda cg125

What a GREAT group of men! I wish I was a wealthy man so I could build a great camp for this veterans group.

I had a real bugout situation recently. I couldn't wish a better bike for that than my T7.
