We are honored to bring you the most inspiring story I have ever heard of our friend Dustin Reynolds aka @thesinglehandedsailor He is on his way to becoming the First Double Amputee to successfully circumnavigate the globe SOLO. He has been Sailing single handed around the world since 2014 and is almost at the end of his journey.
Prepare to be inspired and humbled by this interview as we talk about his single-handed journey around the world, the sail, the freedom, the hurdles, the misconceptions, the happy and the worst times, the fav remote destinations, the dream boats, the future plans, of course the boat tour & the pirates.
Dustin is writing a book about his journey, so if any of you know of a great publisher please reach out to him or to us. It would mean the world if we can help him land the right publishing deal.

What an inspirational video! I cannot even contemplate circumnavigating the world solo with all my limbs let alone being a double amputee. Great content! Keep it up!

I'm disabled British Army Veteran as you know. I think when things become hard, I won't let them best me. Although somethings I have had to accept down the years. But it hasn't stopped me ftom never giving up. My prospects are virtually zero. However Virtually zero is better than zero. So I'll fight with All I have in me to slow the degenerative nature of my health etc. I get lots of people call me inspirational. Which I find hard to believe. Especially when I draw my inspiration from people like him. I'm a typical stubborn Capricorn ex military loon, that won't let my living nightmare beat me. Don't get me wrong. My current health is beyond a joke with all my extra issues on top of my own normal unbearable pains.. I'm so far past breaking. I forgot when I hit my breaking point. Is it any wonder with the battles below:
    * Although my normal unbearable pain issues are: My Broken back degenerative spinal stenosis disease disability, Sciatica, OCD, PTSD, Aspergers, Anxiety, Depression, and Stress. On top as I type this. I'm also dealing with:
My right knee in great pain, and left hip needing to be replaced, possible Gallstones, new borderline thoirid issue, with swelling gone but pain still extreme Huge boil and huge abscess under my jaw. Causing the 4 teeth that needed fillings, now 1 filling, and 4 teeth needing to be removed whilst in surgery, cause my bones are rare, being stronger than my teeth. This causing intense – sporadic pain in my ear, head, toothache. Also severe obese issues, from the years of Meds, Ops, illo health. So been placed onto the tier 3 nhs weight loss scheme. All of the above hurting at the same time. Even when typing this comment. I won't ever let it beat me though. My mottos – which are proudly tattooed next to my Army tattoos are: "Forward Forever – Backwards Never. Progress Not Perfection. Adapt and Overcome. Never Give Up Or In". *

So even though I have so much stacked against me, and cause I'm so far beyond my breaking point. I have found a surreal calm.
Although nothing has changed, I'm still waiting for delayed ops (not even at consultation stage). Pain off the scale, and laid up 99.9% of the time, and so much not mentioned to face. That as I know I have to keep going, cause the other option – isn't an option I'd take (although considered many times. Not saying the option, but I'm sure you know what I mean). So I've had to learn the hard way about humility and patience over my 28yr ongoing multiple degenerative health nightmare.

When you go past caring, or a breaking point, which I have done so many times in my life, I can't remember how many. If you don't do the bad option, then the only option is to fight back. Which is filled with constant frustrations, losing battles, and in my case, accepting some are un winnable. It gives me more focus ilon the ones I can win. Then the ones I can make the best out of a bad situation, and then the ones I can build the best coping strategies etc.

I would've been lost without those truly inspirational people. I humbly mention my journey not to try and put myself in the same light as the inspirational ones, but to highlight that if it wasn't for them. This journey (Although a living nightmare), is a bit more bearable.

I usually comment about the nautical elements on the channel. So please forgive me for sharing a tiny part of my journey.

Thankyou Sir for being a true inspiration to so many.
    xx

Thanks for sharing Dustin’s inspiring journey! A genuine and honest story about curve balls of live, and decisions we have to make. Dustin telling about the moment he hesitated to call 911, makes you wonder what you would do. Hopefully I’ll never learn. Thanks for sharing Victoria, Rico and Dustin πŸ’™.

It's sad that there are pathetic, self-loathing individuals that will downvote literally anything. πŸ™
