They were better that alot of people give credit to.
My uncle had a silver Maestro MG company car back in the 80s and I travelled init many times. Not a bad looking car at all it was and being the MG it ofcourse looked more desirable and more sporty looking then the basic maestro models.

I have been driving for 56 years and purchased a Maestro, 12 month old in 1985, without doubt the worst car of the many i have owned.
