That pic is epic! Where is it?
ORIGIN OF OVERLAND? Considering that travel is as old as our wandering species, I am not surprised that the term or word "overland" is very old, so the claim of origin is extremely difficult… I had a quick search, and here are just a few sources: "First recorded in 1325β75, overland is from the Middle English word overlond." – Quote from Dictionary_com. "
(Noun, travel) a trip by land between the UK and the Indian Sub-continent or Australia, or between the UK and South Africa." – Quote from Wikipedia. "British English, adjective, adverb (prenominal)
1. over or across land. Verb 2. Australian history, to drive (cattle or sheep) overland." – Collins Dictionary. And so on… No surprise, overlanding must be older than the combustion engine, and I am sure that it goes way further back than any of the few sources I mentioned above. It would be interesting to hear from anyone that can find the oldest source (if not origin), and what year/period that was. Have a Merry Christmas, all of you!
