It’s time to talk about OVERLAND VEHICLE POWER. Recently, we’ve had to think about taking our OVERLAND BATTERY AND POWER MANAGEMENT to the next level. And, we’re going to take you on our journey to discover what you need to know about BATTERY MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS.
We will talk BATTERY MONITORING with Kevin (from Lifestyle Overland) and Brad (from TrailRecon). Specifically, we will dive into REDARC BATTERY MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS and solutions. Whether you’re just weekend CAMPING, 4×4 Trail Exploring, or a long-term 4WD EXPEDITION OVERLANDER, sooner or later, you’ll start exploring these options as well.
Thank you @TrailHawkGuy (Overland Bound One & Instagram) @TrailRecon and @Lifestyle Overland for giving your insight!

Hey Mikey! I liked it, a lot. Very informative for certain.
The 4Runner sports a Genesis Dual battery system.
With two group 31 Odyssey AGM batteries in one battery tray.
One for starting and the other Aux. Your Redarc system sounds
sweet. Cheers, Mate.
I've been wondering how the new jeep 4xe hybrid's electric system could be used for overlanding. You cant use the big battery as a power source but I believe the under hood battery is only used to power the accessory's (fans, gauges, lights) not as the starter battery so a lithium battery could be a good option. But I want to find out if the recharging from the motor/generator could be used to recharge aux. battery's after the main battery is full. Battle born has a new LiFePO4 (Safer chemistry, longer life span)100ah heated battery that can be used under the hood. Not cheap but very good quality.
Looking forward to seeing the finished product
I use dual xs3400 for starting 640 watts solar renogy dc to dc to 2 200ah amg batteries. And if you decide to weld with batteries make sure you have the correct stick rods . I learned the hard way.
I'm knee deep in my 80 series dual battery system build as we speak! I've seen Kevin doing his recently and now you guys. Great timing! I wish I had the budget or hookup for the Manager 30 and Redvision… However, I am super excited to build what I have. It is going to be very similar to Ron's behind the driver seat set up. And I will have shore power charging, solar controller, and dc/dc capabilities. I can't wait to see your custom console!!! And as a fellow 80 series owner, I NEED to see what you come up with for cup holders! Cheers Michael! OB member 25558
Bring it on… love this, it's all great information we all need to know, so we don't spend needless money, be safe..
It was an all star of overlanders
Wow the timing of this video could not be more perfect. I just bought a Engel fridge for the 4Runner and I am starting to look at power needs. I also ordered a NOCO boost box to jump start me if I run my single AGM battery too low. So I guess I am taking the route that Kevin suggested at LifeStyle Overland. I am sure I will build off of that as my needs change. Great video!!
O/B. Cool on topic issue at the moment ! Be careful with legal and safe installation with respect to a secondary battery and the location of a fridge/freezer combo ? Downunder a "Milford Cargo Barrier" is used to separate the trunk compartment from the rest of your vehicle mista ! V.
Great video! Awesome to see Kevin and Brad here 👍 I started out with an AGM and solenoid (and solar) and that served me well for many years. I've recently switched to DC-DC and lifepo4. Yes, it's more expensive but the ROI and capability are game changers.
