An often overlooked resource in Australia are men’s sheds , there are over 60 in Tasmania alone and with help from the peak body AMSA and local TMSA they can help , men talk to other like minded men and when you do you find out we have all been there at some time , I’ll have to come down for a ride on my 83 Darmah 😎

I know I'm late to the party, but the reason I watch you and Mat at the workshop is because the information is correct and the fundamental engineering knowledge is bang on. Its said a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing, and this basically describes youtube. I read some of the comments in the video this is about and the negative ones had nothing to do with engineering or mechanics. That in itself speaks volumes. As you say, books are a good reference source but we now live in an age where this is pretty much undermined. I still remember my metal work classes at school, where I made a chisel and that encompassed fundamental principles of metallurgy which where the starting point of higher education. That has been lost to kids attending school now. There is a legitimacy of knowledge which has been completely eroded by the availability of the likes of YouTube where anyone can spout crap and not be held to account. My qualifications (motor tecnition, City and Guilds) mean that if I get it seriously wrong and someone gets hurt or worse, I can be imprisoned. My knowledge is supposed to keep people safe. YouTube is just, at its worst, opinions. The problem is that its human nature to agree with whatever you may think is true in your own mind to begin with, hence 'I can't see a curve on the horizon, so the globe must be flat'….. And ego steps in and says 'I'm right, I knew it all along, and this intelligent sounding dude just CONfirmed it on YouTube'.
I'm not as thick skinned as you, so I don't really post in this bullshit producing platform. I'm glad you and Mat do tho….
