I’ve thought about making a Motorcycle helmet fitting guide for some time, but ideally, I wanted to get a professional involved. So when the chance came up to work with an Arai technician I had to take it. I thought the best way to cover the subject was to just let him go through the process as he would with a Racer or customer. So in this video, we cover the basics of sizing, what to look out for and avoid, right through to custom fitting for the very best helmet fit possible. Not only does that lead to a more comfortable lid, but it also adds huge safety benefits too. You can find out more about Arai, their philosophy and products here;

    Apart from an Arai, the Condor from 2005, the best-fitting helmet I have had has been a Caberg Stunt. Caberg's open face helmet fits me just as well, too.
    Excellent video. And Joe seems a very nice bloke.

    Hello,
    The problem to go to a dealer is there is no dealer heaving Arai xd4 helmet at ALL.
    I live in France near STRASBOURG and there's lot of motorcycle/helmet dealer, perhaps 20 or 30, 50km around.
    Only one can sold Arai helmet.
    I have waiting 1 year to this Arai "official" dealer to test one and buy it more then on internet, i play the game.
    After one year he has one, far not my size of course.
    There is a business problem.
    Dealer sell 600 or 700e helmet like 1e pins, no measurement nothing to adapt, it's ridiculous.
    Arai have to select one good dealer every 100km and be sure they have helmet to try, and don't sell to internet website then they dealer can live.
    2 weeks ago i have buy a Klim Krios pro on internet, approximatively loto bingo size.
    I've take the Klim because my Arai dealer pissed me off.
    Some people would buy Arai and just can't because there is NO dealer.
    This is the claim of a simple and honest person.
    Thank's to Joe for explanation.

    I've got 5 Arai helmets, all of then of the latter generation(Two RX7-V a QV-Pro and Two Chaser-X), so I'm not only bias, but I'm also a VERY GOOD customer! How about online stores(Sportsbikeshop, Helmet City, The Visor Shop and the like) start offering the option to ship the helmet with different thickness crown lining and cheek pads at no extra cost? Perhaps Arai(and other brands) could facilitate this process providing the extra paddings to achieve the perfect fitting. It is not always possible to go to the store in person(Covid crap and what have you) and many times, the best prices are found online. I think is time the big brands of helmets and the main retailers get together to bring the ultimate customer experience, in store or online! Cheers, Ray.

    I always say buying a helmet is like buying shoes , you have to try it on , take the time to go to dealer , line a few up that you like and within your budget and try them on , do the little checks as outlined in the video and see what fits the best ( there's a few new checks that I will be doing now because of this video ) Great idea getting an expert in to show us all how to do this , and not trying to do it yourself and maybe not outlining these checks and ( with the best intentions ) misguiding people to a degree without even realising it , Personally I would not recommend buying a helmet online , always try them on in a shop when ever possible .

    Great video it’s all about the fit don’t matter if it’s a 60£ or a £600 helmet if it doesn’t fit properly it’s useless 👍👍
