The Saturday of the Eifel GP was World Mental Health Day. In today’s video, I discuss how some of the teams used their platforms to help start a conversation surrounding mental health. This is a cause that I believe to be so important. McLarens’ partnership with Mind took centre stage the whole weekend with the team constantly showing us that they want to be leading the change in attitudes surrounding mental health.

Below are links to the articles which I discuss, along with the MINID charity wedsite as well which provides information regards Mental Health. This is a great resource for everyone to use and I recommend that you take a look if you are not yet familiar with the charity.

Hopefully this is the start of something substantial. Thank you for making this video. Not in the greatest of places mentally as of now, so stories like these are always heartening.

great video- i loved all that mclaren done with mind for this years world mental health day. i also love that Mclaren work with mind throughout the whole year, not just last weekend. i am disappointed in the rest of the teams for not feeling even a tweet to support the mental heath day was important. i hope they can work better with these situations for the future.

    Important subject. Well done 👍

Great video as always Dornie. I think we have to remember that the mechanics, engineers, drivers etc. are all human beings like us as fans. We watch them fly all over the world competing at the highest level in F1 in the middle of a global pandemic where nothing is certain. Mental health is super important especially in a time like this. Teams need to follow in McLarens footsteps and use their platform to raise awareness about mental health. It’s a real issue that needs to be normalised within society and McLaren are taking steps in the right direction

I hope to see more f1 teams talk about it /raise awareness because mental health something which doesn’t get talked about enough I have no idea why that is but fact that the majority of teams didn’t acknowledge it adds to that. McLaren once again showing it’s class as an organisation in putting a lot of effort into something so important especially in uncertain times like today 👍

As someone who has been struggling with their mental health this year (as I imagine a lot of people have), I was so happy seeing all of the posts McLaren have done about their work with Mind (I also ordered that t-shirt they have done in partnership with Mind). As a man in his mid to late twenties, I have found it very hard to talk about my emotions and feelings in the past and it's only been this year that I've opened up to more people about some of the struggles I've had. I always appreciate it when people put the spotlight in improving mental health as it is still underestimated how damaging not looking after yourself mentally can be. I can only hope that more people become willing to talk about it, like you said it shouldn't be harder than asking how your day went. So thank you for adding another voice to the conversation.

Mclaren are setting the stage for the rest of F1 teams to follow suit. I can't believe we only had 3 teams who supported #worldmentalhealthday.

Mental health needs to be taken into account a lot more in the sport especially towards the drivers, they get slated when they don’t perform and the more they slip up the worse it gets I always feel awful for the likes of Grosjean the poor guy is constantly torn apart by people

You might be small but you are talking about big and important things.
