I tried to revive a wiper blade with some odd cutting device, but ruined it, so I went for a drive in my semi-stripped 2CV to cheer myself up.

You cannot repair wiper blades with that contraption Ian. Ask me how I know! Those things were all over the interweb a few years back with very convincing videos.

On some cars, and our old Yaris comes to mind, the blade is integrated into the arm and replacing the whole thing costs a fortune. What few dealers tell you is that you can just purchase the rubber blade and just slide it in to replace the worn part. ISTR the difference between the two was about £50.

I've been watching some soccer matches from the 70s on YouTube and noticed many Invacars close to the pitch. Chelsea in particular had at least eight in a row and I just watched an Oldham match where there were plenty including a Mini in the corner. Was there an allowance at most stadiums for the cars to be parked so close to the action?
used to put a sheet of wet & dry on a flat surface and run wiper blades over it from memory it worked !
