That managers behaviour was so far past acceptable. She is the one that deserves to be fired. I've been in situations just like this and it's fucking terrible. She needs to take a flying leap.

Everyone is crazy. It just varies in size, and shape.
I would ask the emailer where "crazy' appears in the PDR.
