It doesn't matter if his condition was real or imagined. They disrespected his wishes. And firing him was wrong in any event. I've been telling people most of my life that I don't want to hear so much as "happy birthdy," much less have a party or presents. Yet it is rare that this request is honored. In my humble, correct opinion, his award was justified.

Their response is absolutely mental "Julie Brazil, chief operating officer of Gravity Diagnostics, said the verdict set a dangerous precedent for employers and employees that unless physical violence happens, any other form of workplace violence is permissible."

What the fk? Dude was supposedly hugging himself which is apparently one of his coping mechanisms and they took that as a sign that he was about to get violent?

I know I’m really really late to the party, but to me it doesn’t even matter if he has an anxiety disorder. He said he didn’t want a party. The reason he didn’t want it is largely irrelevant, given it’s not part of his employment agreement, unless for some really really strange reason they have a “Birthday Party” provision in their contract.

They should have to pay twice as much to him just for trying to interrupt his lunch break with frivolity.

I don't have panic attacks, but I wouldn't want a damm birthday party either.
Too bad he wasn't awarded more.
