Hello Family,

Suicide is never an easy thing to discuss, rather, it is in some ways, socially discouraged because of the stigma in which still surrounds it. It is through this vlog, and sharing my story, that I hope to change that. I really don’t give a damn about putting myself out there like that, if it helps just one person, then it’s worth it.

Many times we may express our sorrow or discomfort in life without ever expressing our true feelings. Without saying the taboo words of “I’m feeling suicidal.” It’s these words that are most important to tell, yet we don’t because we fear judgment, lack of understanding, loss of our jobs, partners, etc. It was only through my own experience, that I came to understand that there are people who do care, can help, and most of all, can help you in private if you so wish.

I called the National Suicide Prevention Hotline (1-800-273-8255) and spoke with a woman named Susan. Susan ultimately gave me the courage to seek further help from mental healthcare professionals, in which undoubtedly saved my life. Susan was a huge source of inspiration for me in starting this channel. I’m indebted to her in so many ways.

If you are uncomfortable with talking to your loved ones or friends, please feel free to reach out to me via email or social media. I’m here for you. If you are uncomfortable with that, then please call the resources listed below. There is not a time or age limit in which you have to be in order to call. ANYONE can call! There are also local chaplains and grief counselors in which you may contact in almost every city. Use these invaluable resources! They’re there for you whenever you need them! I highly encourage you to tell your family and friends so they may give you the love and support you need. Don’t suffer alone. This may all sound cliche, but it’s simply the truth. You do not need to be suffering from a mental illness to feel suicidal, and regardless if you are or aren’t, there is still help. Trust me I would know.

As an arising psychologist, I have learned the importance of talking about these subjects because of how common people suffer from them. It’s part of life.

Family, parents, and friends, please pay attention to the subtle or drastic behavioral changes displayed by your loved ones. Talk to them, and encourage an open line of communication. Please do not resort to the mere thought that they are just seeking attention or are experiencing puberty, mood swings, etc. This commonly a fatal mistake. Get involved!

Let’s keep this discussion going.
Wishing you many blessings – Blair

thank you for the articulate and extremely humane way you expressed yourself and the thoughts many of us who have been to that darkest of places know so well..
I too have lived through this hell and to be entirely honest am still at risk of slipping back as life is still very challenging but now at least I am able to bring to the fore the thought that suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem – and when I was finally persuded to seek help I was able to step back from the brink
Oh and I love your love of riding bikes – its been an effective therapy for me too 🙂

I believe that suicide should be legal and people should be able to get assistance and be put to death under anesthesia. My life, my body, my choice.

Thanks for this video! There’s always room in life for more positive inspiration no matter who brings it or the modality by which it comes.
I agree with reading self help books as social media has played a major role in the detriment of society.
