Aluminium has twice the linear expansion of steel. Therefore if you heated the aluminium and not the bolt it should have come out with the easy out.

My first thought when I saw that freeze and release stuff was, carry a six pack with you and when at camp, give each can a spray, and voila, cold drink. Whadya reckon Mark?

Stellite drills was what I had to resort to when needing to drill out a broken HSS drill bit or easy out, way back when I served my apprenticeship. Also left hand drill bits are good to try because they tend to unscrew the broken bit out.

Great episode Mark. Broken bolts can be a real character building exercise. In my shed, tools would have been thrown.
Fourth day stuck in isolation. Wifey with Covid. Winning the Jay Leno pack really made my day. Woohoo!
    Thanks Jay great products. πŸ‘

You did everything possible to get that bolt out. Sometimes that just happens. That was a great dealership. Some sweet looking Royal Enfields there.

Feel like I need to take my bike to Melbourne for my Himalayan service. When the rain pisses off please.

Just wondering if you would be better getting rid of that handle bar/steering dampener? I'm thinking it's becoming more of a hindrance and complicates the simplicity.

Yeah, easy-outs are hit and miss. I would recommend reverse drill bits though. They come with most extractor sets. A lot of times the drill bit alone will remove it.

I just removed a stripped bolt that was way down in a cavern in my trucks engine area. That was quite the project too! What ended up working was this bolt grabber socket by Irwin. OMG what a great product.

Brilliant episode mark πŸ‘ you should do some trials riding mark, there’s a lot of good techniques you could pick up that would transfer over to into your riding for getting over log’s and other obstacles out on the trails , a lot of enduro riders use it in their training, but it’s good to have under your belt when you get into them little sticky situations that would normally have you turning round and spoiling the day? Would make some good content too πŸ˜‰πŸ‘
