If you still like the firefighting, just not the house life, did you ever consider volunteering with a smaller department? All the call action, none of the 24 or 48 hour watch stuff.
I’m not sure what they do in AZ, but in many other places there are incentives for volunteers like tax credits and such.
Also, volunteer departments are usually underfunded and have a hard time affording formal training for their members. A volunteer department could benefit from your experience. And you would still have exposure to the parts of the job you liked… just not the pay unfortunately.
    Cheers! And keep on riding.

You might fit in with a volunteer department. You don't have to be part of the "clique" to fit in. Just run calls and keep up with the training. Volunteers are desperately needed across the country. Stay safe brother

It sometimes takes a while to discover if something isn't right. Been there more than once and always felt better after making the change.

You make a very very valid point in this video. I find myself relating to this immensely. This is why I decided to go to volunteer route. Instead of living at the station for shifts, we respond to the station when needed, complete our duties at the scene, head back to the station, write reports and leave. While it does require socializing with your fellow firefighters, it's a lot more brief. I don't think I could ever be a career firefighter, due to exactly what you talked about in the video. However, I enjoy what I do now a lot. Thank you for making this video!

As a Firefighter for 20 years now. I love the job just as much as I did when I first got hired. Yes there are there ups and downs with station life but I view it as my home away from home. I get 24 hours away from crazy family home life and 3 days away from the crazy station life.. Thanks for the videos.
