On this round of beers in the shed we’re talking about the impact of COVID on us 4WDers!

We talk about some of the crowded campsites we’ve been seeing and how to avoid them, campsites you can’t even get a booking for, and the dreaded COVID tax on 4WD prices! Rigs like Toyota Hiluxs and Nissan Patrols and getting expensive, so we ask whether or not its worth looking at different 4WDs like Mitsubishi Pajeros and the Isuzu MUX.

As usual we’ve got epic builds in rig of the week, hilarious 4WD fails and we go head to head on the front lockers vs rear lockers topic!

Hi all, Just did a small drive today (about 550k's), I was grossed out by the stench of some of the mobile garbage tips (rubbish in wheel bags) on the highway. I fully endorse and applaud the stand you guys and the larger community are taking on litter, however I could smell a spare wheel bag at 500m behind them. This became more gross as I closed the distance. Maybe a garbage bag inside and tie it off before leaving camp would work. This sort of smell could really upset the wider community who may not come across 4 wd campers much.
    Many thanks.

Shauno gets it – the retail life is RDOs mid week and weekend working, those couple of sickies leading into a few RDOs makes all the difference.

I really want to see 4wd 24/7 make a 4wd action game with all the campsites they have been around Australia and whatnot… Thumbs up so they can see 🙂 it would be amazing to have the special vehicles like sooty dirty 30 as custom builds and things fully customisable rigs that you can build.

What rust protection do you use on your vehicles

I wish authorities were a little more permissive regarding exploration, here in Belgium. Most of the time, setting a wheel anywhere else than on paved roads is illegal. It is so frustrating! There are only a couple of 'pay-and-play' areas for the whole country. They are tiny, and mostly closed now due to Covid… Driving anywhere else will make you a target for rock-throwing cyclists, or even get fined by forest-keepers. Even if you stay on rutted tracks. Even if you take care to leave no trace of your passage. Off-roading is not considered to be a worth wile hobby. It's destructive towards nature, they say. Nobody even wants to hear about 'responsible off-roading'. Anyway, love the show, watch it all the time, I catch up on videos from a few years ago, and enjoy watching you guys having fun, while I look at my 4WD in the driveway and dream-on about taking it down-under… Or anywhere where there are no roads, as a matter of fact. 🙂 Cheers!
