We talk about some of the crowded campsites we’ve been seeing and how to avoid them, campsites you can’t even get a booking for, and the dreaded COVID tax on 4WD prices! Rigs like Toyota Hiluxs and Nissan Patrols and getting expensive, so we ask whether or not its worth looking at different 4WDs like Mitsubishi Pajeros and the Isuzu MUX.

Interesting discussion on inflated prices. Looking at prices I’ve decided to go for a less in demand soft roader as a basis for a solo tourer. Looking at an X trail. I know it’s limitations but with a few upgrades it’s horses for courses so I’ll just need to choose the right courses.

My brother done the mischief the day after he got 35 inch muddies on his forbie, he decided he’d go out and test how good they are by finding the closest mud hole and sure enough he got stuck for about 4 hours until my uncle went and got him out
Went to a very secluded beach down here in SA the other day, expecting no one, 20 odd rigs already set up on arrival.
The covid tax is crazy. Bought a 2012 hilux March last year for $24k, same model with more ks and less extras is pushing $45k+
Now with that said, any recommendations on 12v 12,000 pound winches and a decent catch can to fit a 3lrt turbo diesel?

It's a hard choice .. pay 55k for a ute and invest big bucks to set it up or pay 25k for GU coil cab, set up and a few Ks … insert covid tax 😑🤣
