How about the drivers who intentionally put riders at risk?
Love the new video style but i liked when you where talk/driving with the engine sound
Hey Dan, great video. Off setting to cars at stops in traffic is something I have done since hitting the streets on a bike so many years ago. And have had to shoot the gap more than once. OK, in my G-0-F's days, I split lanes and ran read lights on the reg. Ah yes, to be young and invincible.
Something to consider.
High Viz gear helps but it is movement that will get you noticed. You can slap on Chartreuse & neon all you like if you ride in a straight line from a distance you will still look like a light bulb standing still. It is harder for other drivers to judge distance when on coming bikes travel in straight lines. The simple act of moving side to side in your lane up's your visibility to on coming traffic.
Head on a swivel.
If only people would pay more attention on the road. Not talking about motorcyclists though, generally, we want to stay alive, so we watch very carefully all the time
I've always tried to be vigilant to zip in between if necessary and been afraid if I ever need to i'll react too slowly – it never occurred to me to simply make a habit of stopping in a filter-like position. Guess it was a little mental block since I have it in my head that i'm not confident to actively filter. Thanks for that tip.
I usually agree with you, but I honestly think you are wrong about motorcycle brakes not being as good as a car. Maybe on a big cruiser like yours, but the average bike could stop way faster than an average car. The only difference is when the car skids it cant tip over.
I always leave the bike in gear when stopped and constantly check my mirrors as well.
Great Video !!!
