Here’s an option that you may not have considered due to a lot of disinfo in motorcycle culture: Ethanol(E85). While Ethanol isn’t emissions free, it is a lot cleaner than petrol. There are bikers who’ve done ethanol conversions to their bike just for the performance boost. I think this is our best option as motorcyclists who want are ecologically conscious. For most modern 1000cc bikes all it would take is to change the fuel pump to one rated for E85 and also change the fuel lines to PTFE. On smaller cc bikes, one would have to change the injector to suit the higher fuel concentration demands when running ethanol. And before people start flaming me with anti ethanol propaganda, check out this video by Engineering Explained where he reviews a study done on the effects of ethanol on engines: https://youtu.be/ATGSBi1kBl0
You must have different regulations in the US. Over here in Australia all new bikes have Cats fitted. It's been that way for many years. And about 35% of houses have solar panels. Also, California is not the only place that is going to ban new ICE vehicles. Many European countries have enacted legislation to do the same. As for Climate Change, talking to my Scientist friends, I too work at a university, the evidence says it is happening. Love your channel. Keep it up. And love an intelligent woman. Cheers.
The lack of range will always kill battery bikes. No recuperation means you ran out of juice after 100 miles and then have to charge. In Germany, where I live, that will be just as difficult as for any electric vehicle that is supposed to be operated away from your home: you have to rely on what you find.
The infrastructure for all that is not in sight. So E-bikes mean: goodbye to weekend rides or holiday trips. Commuting is still possible, a scooter will do that easily – anything else will be too heavy and less efficient – noone needs a lifewire for 20K to get 30 miles to work and back every day.
Out truck horns on them and use them frequently?
Not enough range currently, not enough ease of charging.
You forget about the clutch and the sound once you experience the instant torque 😁.
A couple more years to improve the battery technology and drop the prices to more easier to digest levels and some smarter guys leading the country to if possible …
I think one thing about electricity generation, is that you would be conceivably be able to limit the amount of pollution at a smaller number of locations. So even if right now we have multiple levels of efficiency it would probably be simpler to update/upgrade a few thousand power plants over a few million vehicles.
Of course I would really miss internal combustion power. But it's a small price to pay for surviving on the planet.
And what about the making of the batteries?
A valcano erupting emits more poluts into the air then we do in 500 years so what r we gona band valcanos one day to ?
I think it does not make much sense to have an electric bike or car, if you get your electricity form a coal burning power plant. In my area they have switched but it is to natural gas .
