Here is a typical example of a day I couldn’t be doing with…….until I got out on a bike. I ask the question, what would happen to my mental health if I didn’t have motorbikes in my life?

I am with you on the GS. I would say that prior to buying mine 5 years ago I would change bikes annually if not twice a year! Occasionally I look at the new Multi V4S or AKTM and think…maybe.. but the GS is so damn good, and I have had so many adventures with it, I cannot imagine wanting to ever part with it. The same goes for cars. I have done the sports car thing and now have gone back to basics with a Caterham and cannot ever imagine wanting another sports car again! I also have a Brompton pushbike and I can see that also being in my life forever. If you have a connection (and you know I mean love here) with any machine rejoice in it and let others chase the next big thing. With a BMW warranty you have trouble free riding and, as you say, a bike that will have plenty more talent left long after yours has run out. Mind you the new V4S?? …No… must resist 😉

Fantastic video! I took suffer from the blues when I can't ride so thank you for sharing your thoughts on this topic! I live in the South Eastern US and have the exact opposite problem with weather. The Summers here are unbearable unless you ride with no protective gear, but even then its hopeless! I have a 2016 GS Triple Black set up very much like yours, except I have the SW Motec hard bags. Basically I day dream about riding all the time, except when I am actually riding!!

I just had my first ride on my new to me 2015 GS1200 LC. Oh my word, I love it so much! It’s just great on any road, surface or weather. Thanks for the great recommendation and here is to a marvellous year of riding.

I’ve parked for the night in the lorry at Mullagh Lough a few times when I’ve been too late to blow a load of plastic granules into the Wellman factory 🚚💨💨 it’s definitely a nice area

Very true about the bike being great headspace. Works like a mental reset for all the stuff going on. Haven’t been out since November but itching to get goin

7 mins in Dave you jinxed yourself, you were just saying the software on the GP10 wasn't crashing. On the point of motivation, its a very broad topic, very deep. But for the purpose of this video and you getting out of bed on a cold, damp, day in January, in Ireland – I think deep down you knew you would feel better after the ride, and its remembering or knowing that feeling that gave you the motivation to go out.

Yes. Same feeling about motorbikes over here.. 15y after selling my r1150r I bought myself a 2017 r1200GS… I have it 2,5w now and again totally in love with riding. Missed it. 1200km already, mostly commuting… And yes. Like back then, just thinking of the bike/riding lifts the spirit… Because every ride is a small holiday.
I love your tank bag. SW motech. But which model?

Spot on, I don’t fly anymore but did my PPL/ IMC and night rating . Gave up ,too pricey. Then bikes for my thrills , allows me to forget reality 😂
