I have to chime in on the loud pipes not saving lives, because the same debate you would use to justify other gear should be utilized here.

1st) yes if you're moving at a high enough speed you are essentially "outrunning" the sound you're producing. But not all riding is done on the highway. And as you stated briefly, if a car is next to you or keeping up with you, they Will here your exhaust and be more aware of you than if you had a quit exhaust. And muh riding is done in the city or on surface streets for a lot of people. Car drivers can feel the vibrations and hear Something if you have a loud exhaust and all were trying to do is make them more aware of our presence in general. Which the loud exhaust accomplishes

2nd) we are , as motorcyclists, preparing for the least occasions as well as the majority of occasions and there are times when a louder exhaust will have caught somebody's attention. It may not save your life directly in and of itself, but it gets people looking for where the noise is coming from even if they can't see you still and that mixed with our motorcycling skill and strategy Will help you out at Some point in your riding history.

Just like being seen is helpful, being heard is helpful on the road. Liked the video though. Thanks

Going faster than the speed of sound?

If you travel through high deer population areas – ride lower speeds and the loud pipes freezes them in their tracks and you can better see them. Interections where you are not sure the car driver is looking at you blip of the pipes gets attention. Perhaps not the greatest examples but any bit helps.

I was born hard of hearing, I highly encourage everyone to wear ear plugs. Going through life only understanding 3 out of 4 words is a great way to make people think you look stupid and seem unsure of yourself in communication. Hearing aids help a lot, but hearing aids cost as much as some motorcycles.

Who the fuck thought of the helmets break necks myth?! It is the BIGGEST dose of bullshit I've ever heard! I spent a good chunk of my life pushing highway speeds on skis. I always kept my helmet fresh and up-to-date and if something had a new proven safety feature, I'd get that helmet. I've had friends who should have died but didn't just because of their helmets, and I've known people who shouldn't have died but did because they weren't wearing one. So wear your damn helmet. And helmets affecting your vision and hearing? I'd rather not be deafened by road noise and blinded by wind and dust thank you very much. If I can hear and see properly then I can ride properly

I feel the need to disagree with "myth" #1. There are many people out there who dislike motorcyclists and legitimately do not care for their safety. As for the other morons that "do care" but can't see us because they're too distracted/texting/etc I would have to argue that in & of itself is tantamount to not caring about motorcyclists. If you don't give enough of a shit to put the phone down and pay attention while driving you cannot claim that you care about others' safety… In my mind, driving recklessly is no different than actively not caring about the safety of everyone around you, period.

god bless you for having the patience to bust these myths, most of them are next level stupid😂
