might be an idea to check the camber on bump and rebound on the rear suspension ap1 and ap2 are different before using anti-roll bar
Good start. I would also suggest going square with your wheel setup. It makes the platform that much more competent.
bloody brilliant series to look forward too,, collecting parts for my car as well..
Hello JayEmm.
Some nice bits you've got going on the S there, particularly the Ohlins, the powerflex bushes you have, is the compliance bush poly or rubber? If poly, consider changing to a rubber type from the likes of Mugen, as the poly type offer no form of compliance/incredibly stiff meaning quite a harsh ride when talking potholes and undulations.
Do you have much planned for the brakes? The OE lines do have a habit of bulging under heavier braking, as does the bulkhead surrounding the master cylinder (there are braces available)
The oe brake/pad setup is up to scratch for mild spirited B road blasting, however the rear solid brake discs do have a habit of heat soak, which can lead to bearing/hub failure, there are vented setups on the market using calipers from the Mazda RX8 which helps a lot with cooling.
ITB/cam setup is very nice, but they won't yield MUCH more power than a well tuned manifold/plenum setup, they'll give you all the fruity noises but not much else. The adjustable cam gears can be a mare to setup aswell.
Decats are the single best gain on an S2000 when combined with a remap/lowering of vtec engagement. To put it mildly, I went from 231bhp/151ft lbs OE to 244/158ft lbs with a 4" intake and a manifold decat back 2.75" system, gains of 20-30ft lbs and 20-30bhp mid range. The OE cats whilst being a sports cat type from factory do hold the car back.
Do consider getting a baffle for the sump welded in too, since you are altering the suspension setup greatly, you will be cornering at a higher rate where oil pick up may be a struggle. For what a baffle costs (£100 welded in) vs an F20 replacement, well worth it!
Following to see how you get on mate. From an S2000 owner of 9 years.
Looks great
Gonna be a crazy build when finished! I hope to get into automotive journalism one day to experience such things 🙂
Skunk2 weighted shit knob. 👍
The head is a piece directly from JDM heaven. I think that's the only way to make the S2000 go faster.
Centre of Gravity are legends. Did my Porsche, felt like a different car.
I have an AP1 valve cover that has the Rain H8R valve cover mod that ends the S2000 blow by issues and it is powder coated yellow. I need to sell it. Perhaps you are interested?
