I am very proud of you all for voicing your feelings and concerns. I didn't know such bills were being considered. From what you have described, I am horrified. We should be expanding policy to care for all people. We are all different and should celebrate our diversity. I don't know any of you personally nor you I, but I truly appreciate you all for who you are.
love you, we all have our struggles with family, medical and other issues we may not share happily, all the best for you and the team!
Well said Nikki – all forms of discrimination need to be fought hard against, whether it is anti-trans, anti-sexual orientation, anti-race, anti-religion choice. For many (such as in anti-transgender, anti-sexual orientation and anti-race) it is never a choice , it is who you are.
"A person is a person." Thank you and the team for all you do. Love your work.
At least now you will understand why pronouncing Volkswagen with a 'V'sound to start makes no sense.
I met you guys at Fully Charged Live NA in Austin. Had the terrible cold and wanted photo with you all!!!!! Prior to the pandemic I wanted to keep a distance so that you guys wouldn’t get ill. I was in a recovery mode. Regardless of me being a full fledged heterosexual, I being who I am, respect all people. Sometimes I am not certain about young children making tough decisions in this area. However, these children need love and support from their families and the community. Government has really interfere with people’s lives since the pandemic. I pray that things don’t get worse.
I'm not all the person I wish to be, but I know something of my ancestral history. Trans people (two spirit) people were valued in communities as increasing the success and survival of their households and neighbors. As an "Ace" many of my family leaned heavily (understatement) upon me on behalf of my nieces and nephews for their benefit. With the children now adults, I am finding support for my own gifts and talents from the younger generation beyond my two spirit-ness, but that's a story for another day.
Western society is so out of synch with the richness of being human it reminds me of what Mother Teresa said. Paraphrased, she had seen many impoverished people, but none as poor as in the West, none as poor as materially affluent Americans.
I cannot see myself going to Texas for an event while I know many "conservative" lgbtq+ who are being oppressed or others who are "straight" but doing all activities on the down low while publicly punishing the community.
No, I'm not the all person I wish to me, but I do wish I was a better affirming assertive compassionate bridge between cultures and humanity. The best I can do is write and have discretion in where I spend my money. This I will do.
I am a recent subscriber but I have even more admiration for you all now. Thank you for sharing this. 💛 🏳️🌈 🏳️⚧️ ❤️
I posted this as a reply to Nikki but i thought it was worth a repost on its own to further the discussion…
HiHi ! thank you for clarifying this for me Nikki , because now we are being more specific and discussing "secondary" sex characteristics. And indeed , both boys and girls do not have beards or breasts. Puberty reinforces ones gender. So i would put forward the proposition that a child does not know what it is like to feel like a man or a woman until they do. Up until this point , for them, it is purely intellectual , a product of imagination. And if they use puberty blockers it will remain so. I wonder if that certainty comes from being a child in the first place. We all had black and white views of the world, then we grew up , matured and realized that the world was many many shades of grey.
The plight of gay people seems easier by comparison , a person is to a degree, happy with their own body and is attracted to the same sex. And indeed many gay people live happy fulfilled lives (within the norms of all relationships) .
So i feel that somehow by using blockers we are denying the child the opportunity to learn the truth about themselves.
The onset of puberty will tell them – yes i desire the opposite sex or yes i desire the same sex. And either solution works ! YAY !
So it seems to me that transgender children and adults have a much more complex situation that goes beyond physicality. They feel that they cannot participate in or be accepted by society in the manner they want if they have the wrong set of secondary attributes. And this is the realm of the mind………
Can someone answer why boy (that feels he is a girl—it is his/her right to feel so) can not compete with other boys (who feel that they are boys) and he/she wants to compete with girls (who feel that they are girls) that are not in state to compete with her/him?
