I struggled with addiction for almost 10 years. I have been in and out of jail/prison for years. I now have my Bachelor’s degree in criminal program support services. π I hope to use my experience in the system and my degree to help others better understand addiction and our prison system. This story is based on my own personal opinion and experiences.

As someone from Canada, and worked for admin for a police department, the missing indigenous population is MORE than just a race issue. Im not saying there isn't racsim in the police force, but there are a lot of factors. First off, the province I worked in is a very low dense populated province, and since police funding is based on population over need, its not good. We have very little police for the crimes that happen here, then mix that with the amount of forestery on a lot of reserves up north, and that the Natives dont trust police and wont give them information, its not really a wonder why these women disappear. There is a LOT of sexism in the native american community and the males stick up for each other
Idk how to get my idea to happen but one thing that came to mind is for these people to have private autopsy done to get real answers. Its expensive though so idk maybe a non profit organization or some sort of funding from donations etc could go to people like this needing a private autopsy.
You have a platform maybe someone who reads this could get something like that going.
Missing white girl syndrome has been around forever. Itβs not really surprising anymore
Highway of Tears in Northern British Columbia has hundreds of missing Indigenous women and girls. Itβs a remote area with until recently no public transit women would hitchhike and itβs a very long road. Iβm in the interior of B.Cβ¦ just a fun fact we donβt call them natives in Canada itβs First Nations or Indigenous.
Willy Pickton had the pig farce was outside of Vancouver British Columbia (B.C) killed hundreds of prostitutes from 1983 (probably sooner) to 2002 he was charged with 49. Many were First Nations and the others were βless deadβ for some awful reason and thatβs why it took so long to find him. Fed them too the pigs
I really like the way you shined light on the issue without bringing negativity to Gabby. I agree with you wholeheartedly. Keep spreading your message.
You put so much heart behind every word you say . I know that you will bring deserved attention to so many issues.
We live in a cruel world . I can only imagine how hard it is to not be bringing my baby girl HOME ! The indigenous women ARE being targeted because of their minority. Because perpetrators need a quiet target.
