I struggled with addiction for almost 10 years. I have been in and out of jail/prison for years. I now have my Bachelor’s degree in criminal program support services. πŸ“š I hope to use my experience in the system and my degree to help others better understand addiction and our prison system. This story is based on my own personal opinion and experiences.

Hundreds of aboriginal women go missing every year in Canada. Sometimes I think the reason people aren't talking about it more is that the majority of the time, women are killed by their partners or family members, so is law enforcement just afraid to go to the women's families and try to figure out if their husband, boyfriend, father, brother, male cousin, etc did something to them? My cousin's stepfather was first nations, he abused his stepdaughters and one committed suicide. He was never charged for the abuse and he died last year. Are women just not protected on reserves and will they never be safe even in their own communities and with their own families?

There’s also a problem with missing indigenous peoples and pipelines. When they build those usually settlements for the construction workers are set up, well those have a lack in women and because they usually like to build them on sacred land, those places are hotspots for human trafficking.
But that’s not the only reason just a factor that should make people angry, because the government is putting profits above the well-being of people again

White America will always bash those who rise up and speak out. IF YOU ARE NOT WHITE YOU DO NOT MATTER. Black women are treated like crap, and 80% of their families never get answers.

I have a friend who’s sister was murdered on the reservation and it’s still not being solved or taken too seriously. They believe the husband was possibly involved.
