Depression is a definite, serious problem among the truck driver community.
Over 13% of truck drivers suffer from some level of depression, staggering figures.
A truck driving career leaves a driver alone for very long periods of time, which is sometimes not healthy for the individual. The job is also very high stress which can reek havoc on a truck driver.
There are signs of mild depression which every driver should be aware of. Extra tense and easily angered, feeling extra tired, uninterested in favorite activities, feeling generally unwell etc.
Look for these common signs.
There are a few simple ways to combat mild depression. Taking a pet along on trips, focusing on general health, good eating and exercise can be helpful, making contact with homebase on a daily basis, enjoying a hobby or favorite activity for a period of time each day are just a few.
If you feel you cannot cope with what you think may be depression, there’s nothing shameful about reaching out for professional help.
Or in the alternative, leaving your driving job and getting your mental health back on track.
No job is worth sacrificing your health for.

This industry is repulsive. Negativity is rampant and all companies are liars and thieves. Just talking to them makes my skin crawl. It feels like having to sleep with my mother just to pay my mortgage. Even jobs with unions "protecting you" are in on the scam.

If your alone in the truck, your still not alone. God is still with you. This guys advice helps too.
Ask God to help you. God is willing. Get a KJV Holy Bible and spend time in His word.

i hate the hours of service and ELDs. the job would be so much better if they weren't like they are. I dont like having a shitty computer telling me its time to sleep. If I didnt have to deal with them I could have a decent sleep schedule. But if u drive for 10 hours and take a 30 minute break.. thats only 10:30 and then plus a 10 hour reset is only 20:30… that doesnt add up to 24

Depressing when you spend years driving safe and one dot cop can destroy you in an hour. No job security and only mistakes are pointed out. Now, a flat tire is a career ender and preteips don't catch things when they happen AFTER a pretrip down the road. When it happens to you, you wake up and realize this job isn't worth it.
