‘Be a man’, ‘Man up’ ‘Men Don’t Cry,’ ‘Macho’ ‘Provider,’ ‘Protector’ ‘Strong’. These are all phrases and words said to or about men. They have formed how boys and men perceive themselves and behave for generations. But what has been the result of these age old perceptions and attitudes? What does being man mean or even look like? Is there need to rethink what masculinity is in this day and age? Well tonight the men have their say and hopefully answers these questions. Joining me in studio at our Men’s roundtable is Eddy Kimani, a seasoned media practitioner, entrepreneur and mental health champion, Pastor Simon Mbevi, founder of Transform Nations which facilitates the ‘Man Enough’ program, Octopizzo, award winning hip hop artist and activist and Ian Jege, a digital marketer, entrepreneur and founder of True North. But before we get the conversation started let’s hear what some young men in Nairobi’s CBD had to say about how they manage the pressures of life.

When did masculinity become toxic…the issue we are facing is inadequate masculinity( lack of male guide).. This can be seen is schools and even women are complaing there are no men to marry…prisons are full of men from single parent families.
