Well said Lawrie and thanks to the rest of the lads. One of the guys from my local heritage railway organized a regular zoom meeting of the members as a means of catching up. Good way to see the others and have a laugh as well.
Actually it was was during lockdown that I discovered LMM. Been enjoying it ever since.

I think I'm as guilty of 'hiding' my true feelings as anyone else! However, I have some lovely friends that really look after me!

If anyone reading this is hiding their dark thoughts, please, tell someone!

    Stay safe everyone! 🙂

Lawie, well put. I used to live in a village on the Essex/Suffolk borders, after 24 years I only know 4 people. my main interest was the Colne Valley Railway but once the weekend had gong, that was it! long walks down the Clare was a respite /escape as such. I decided to change my lifestyle and move onto a narrowboat in area I didn't know, but needed to be able to have a permanent address (HGV/PSV driving licenses) so I chose to move onto a marina in Derbyshire (I was lucky in my employer had a depot near Derby, only for him to close it 2 months later). being able to talk to other people has changed my life I now don't feel despondent but now have a future, also I am able to help and receive help, friendship from so many people I didn't know. there is one person who I helped this year (blacking her boat hull) has made cakes, listerned and helped me and just being there to hold my hand when I need it has been a godsend or the kick up the backside I might have required. 😊

As a 40 year old train/transportation/infrastructure enthusiast, i can tell you that this pandemic here in the US has not been easy. I am used to getting out and doing railfanning at least once a week, and i've simply not been able to do that. It's my stress reduction "thing". I have felt very down and very "breaking point" several times, so hearing this from a fellow enthusiast is a big deal. Thank you.
