Nothing but standard size sr5 tyres on my hilux. It's not worth busting cv joints, more fuel and less power.

    Here here!
I can’t standard hi rim sizes, as hi rim sizes = low profile = fxxxing hard ride and accelerated wear = less tyre mileage.
Sure it’s a bit slower around corners….SO WHAT! If you don’t like it leave home a bit earlier, Im not going to scrub my tires out for anyone and this is one of the reasons why the front 265/65/17 are 42 PSI, rear 38 PSI (COLD of course), mine get fortnightly checked.
I really would like to try 265/70/17 as I think the road comfort would increase a bit more.
Of course, I hear you all saying lower your tyres to x y and z, well that’s ok if you are a millionaire and don’t care about your tyres. My tyres wear very well.
My driving style is very much like yours, except I use my gearbox plus the engine braking of the 1kD engine to assist a little in the braking dept, but I also like that bit more control as well.
I have “nomad” valve bodies installed as well as seperate transmission cooler (radiator bypassed) and a transmission temperature gauge.
I don’t change down “manually” when driving a cold engine for at least 10 minutes.
I wish the misses drive like me, then we wouldn’t need to change the front and back pads as we do need to at the next service…then again it could be due to our “learner driver”.
I bet the driving instructor would wonder what the hell I was doing changing down all the time, HAHAHA…well it’s my money. Not only that, drivers that accelerate hard only to brake hard all the time will one day work out why they spend so much on fuel as compared to “normal driving”.
I use cruise control, even in the city…but only if it’s worth it and traffic conditions allow. Generally I find people speed, so sometimes cruise control on flat roads with little interruption will work. Obviously peak hours are not going to work, I’m talking free flowing medium to lightly loaded roads. I try to look after the Prado as best I can AND this does include driving style.
By the way, on our beloved 2007 Grande’ 120 series now with 327,000 klms. The source of that annoying oil leak even since the “mini overhaul at 300,000/preventative maintenance”, that a crack on the REAR lug of the plastic valve cover is causing the engine leak I’ve got since 300,000 klm.
Easy fixed, it’s getting changed in a couple of weeks with a bit of other work as well (not brake pads yet), they only cost about $300 AUD genuine-thank god Toyota is reasonable with this. I’d say they are trying to keep costs down as they know it’s an age issue.
Once Toyota even changed the dash cover with me even prompting the dealer. Off course the dealer gets paid from Toyota, that’s beside the point, even at the age she was at the time (about 10 years) they suggested it.
It did need doing – so thanks Toyota, you got my back, so I’ll continue to support you too.
I’ve had very good experience with Hyundai in the past long ago as well.

Anthony, thanks for mentioning about the mental health. I have sent you few text messages with bit of information on support and services available for those suffering from COVID restrictions. Please make a short video. Again thanks for the good work.

I would have though it’s pretty simple with any vehicle. Stick with the manufacturers specs. You can usually see all of the available wheel and tyre combinations on the tyre pressure placard.
I just wish Toyota would offer up some wheel options.
