Yep, I have to agree with the comments everyone has made. I’m pretty sure most of us have read Robert Persig’s “Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance “, as 50+ years ago he was saying the same things regarding moving meditation and mental health. I’m also pretty sure most of us experience something similar when tackling a bike build. I do one project a year, and get as much satisfaction from the build as the actual riding….Just can’t bear to sell them afterwards….

Biking has changed over the years in the 40s 50s and 60s. It was a cheap form of transport. But as times gone on and cars have become cheaper and more accessible bikes have been categorised as a weekend hobby also in the Uk the weather plays a massive role in all year round riding

Why is it you have to only do theory test then test for your car licence but for a bike licence you have to do cbt theory test mod 1 mod 2

If someone drives or rides consistently or egregiously recklessly enough to collect enough penalty points for a ban, IMO it should apply to all vehicles. Otherwise where is the deterrent?

You get banned for a year from car driving, so then you do a CBT and ride a motorbike like an arsehole for a year while waiting to get back in your car?

If there’s a value that bikers bring to the world, it’s as the antidote or kryptonite to closed-minded, selfish and entitled behaviour on the road. Rationalising away poor behaviour, based on a presumption of being somehow better, isn’t it.

In addition to reducing traffic, expanding vehicle skills, helping others unconditionally and without prejudice, existing as a role model for younger people who dream of riding and those coming back after sacrificing their love for biking to raise families, motorcycles make people smile, "riders or not" ✌️❤️🏍️

I very much agree with you about the Economy and Viramental side of bike riding, also the togetherness amongst riders that is not found with car drivers, eg, road rage…
There are so many advantages about riding bikes ( for me being a mental health deterrent, as well as financial gain). As far as bad weather is concerned…, there is no bad weather, only bad clothing!
To refer to something else you said, I have 2 bikes and have them on 1 insurance policy, and only pay road tax for the bigger one of the two…, I live in Switzerland and don't understand why that is not common practise in every country.
Super video Dei and well done for putting this fact up for conversation. Thanks. Steve.

It's unfortunate, but bikes aren't necessary. You can buy and register a cheap car much more inexpensively than a cheap bike, because you will still be looking at an investment in safety gear, increased insurance, and registration costs. Where a bike does win, is parking, and flexibility in a city. But scooters also fill that role. There's also a certain mentality required to ride safely. Not everyone has it.

What a great subject. We make the world better because we have skills that most people don't have. Also care more about each others well being. I would never go past a broken motorcycle without offering help even while driving in the cage. As you said, A car driver would just drive by. That attitude filters into everyday life. So we don't just make things better, we make them WAY better.
