Glad to see the BasicMed option moving forward, but I have seen no discussion on how Medical providers will code and bill for this service. The original concept was that a regular physical provided by your family doctor would meet FAA requirements. That should mean that most insurance plans would pay for this exam and in part Medicare would pay for part of the cost under CPT code G0439. So where are we on developing the billing system??

It would be great if we could expand this to Canada, the Caribbean and Mexico. Just wishing out loud …

Excellent run through of what is now defined and needed for BASICMED. Finally!! Not what was fought for and not what was promised which is no surprise to me. Once again, the FAA were their natural selves, pricks, about making any rational rule changes while slow walking the changes. The congress with AOPA pushing the hell out of them actually did something "good?" for us lowly, poor, General Aviation pilots and owners to a point. Not nearly far enough in my opinion! My dues actually did some "good?", maybe. My annual is about due so I will be flying more, now, if this BASICMED thing works. Since this applies only within CONUS, we should restrict GA flights from foreign shores until they have reciprocity and allow US pilots to fly within their borders with BASICMED. Hear that AOPA and Congress??!!

For a 3rd Class, no doctor has ever been required to see my anus, yet for some inexplicable reason the BasicMed requires this very invasive thing on the doctor’s checklist. Who’s sick idea was that?

IT IS NOT EASY AT ALL. I cant find a DR. that wants to fill out the form This is bull

So the only difference between 3rd class and basic Med is that you now need a doctor's exam every 4 years instead of every 2 years. Is that correct?
