This book is going to help you understand the important “dos and don’ts” of the motorcycling world!

➡️ Improper Use of Vision:
Vision is the most critical skill we can develop for riding a motorcycle. The two most critical locations on the road where we make mistakes are at intersections and when we’re cornering.
➡️ Failing to Predict Danger (Situational Awareness):
Our brains are constantly analyzing trends in an effort to make predictions. The brain performs this function in an effort to predict danger and maximize our self-preservation. Predicting danger within our environment means we need to identify, process, and comprehend the critical elements of information about what is happening to survive our ride.
➡️ Overestimate Riding Abilities (Riding Within Limits):
To be successful riders, we’ll need to be able to understand the difference between the risks we are taking and the skills we actually possess.
➡️ Underestimate Effects of Aging:
We spend billions of dollars in this country to try to stop and even reverse the effects of aging. If we misunderstand the effect aging is having on our ride, we can unwittingly add risk to our ride.
➡️ Accepting More Risk Through Less Riding Gear:
Personal protective equipment designed for motorcycling is necessary to reduce our risk and increase riding enjoyment. The less we wear, the more we increase our risk.

You forgot one: Taking your hands off the bars and dropping your bike into neutral and relaxing at lights. It makes you completely vulnerable to cars coming up behind you.
😐… You must have been watching me ride today… 😄 Just kidding.
Thank you DanDan! Noobies like me need to hear this advice.
great points but please dont rush it and everything changes when you ride in a group of bikes
Maybe have 2 mirrors to improve sit. awareness, maybe not read while riding, maybe not take your hands of the handle bars while riding, maybe use turn signals when changing lanes. Lead by exmaple.
Forever two wheels and thanks you help many people out more than you know man thanks.
I got lazy with my gear and wore a vest for a while. Only look one slide to put me back in a jacket for good. Pavement hurts! Take it from me, you don't want to find out for yourself.
Small bone to pick: the effect of aging is not a habit you practice, at best it's part of Dunning-Kruger. Also, when cars try to pull out like that, you're supposed to stop, yell at the driver about how they almost killed you, point to the camera on your helmet, and say "You're on YouTube, You're on YouTube." Or maybe I've been watching too many Moto Stars videos…
Damn I love the sound of your bike. Can’t wait until I’m allowed to put a different exhaust on my Rebel. I’m on my ‘restricted’ licence in New Zealand, and the Rebel is ‘Learner Approved’ as long as I don’t make any non-cosmetic changes. Can get my full licence in 11 months!
