This book is going to help you understand the important “dos and don’ts” of the motorcycling world!

➡️ Improper Use of Vision:
Vision is the most critical skill we can develop for riding a motorcycle. The two most critical locations on the road where we make mistakes are at intersections and when we’re cornering.
➡️ Failing to Predict Danger (Situational Awareness):
Our brains are constantly analyzing trends in an effort to make predictions. The brain performs this function in an effort to predict danger and maximize our self-preservation. Predicting danger within our environment means we need to identify, process, and comprehend the critical elements of information about what is happening to survive our ride.
➡️ Overestimate Riding Abilities (Riding Within Limits):
To be successful riders, we’ll need to be able to understand the difference between the risks we are taking and the skills we actually possess.
➡️ Underestimate Effects of Aging:
We spend billions of dollars in this country to try to stop and even reverse the effects of aging. If we misunderstand the effect aging is having on our ride, we can unwittingly add risk to our ride.
➡️ Accepting More Risk Through Less Riding Gear:
Personal protective equipment designed for motorcycling is necessary to reduce our risk and increase riding enjoyment. The less we wear, the more we increase our risk.

As an aside, as a UK resident, I can't believe the lack of corners you have over there! It's a case of left or right at a set of lights, then straight for 10 mins, until you turn left or right at another set of lights!!! If you see a straight road over here, it was built by the Roman Empire..! 🙂

I'm 44 years old and have had my first bike for almost 2 weeks. It's taken just over a year of watching responsible rider vlog, mostly DanDanTheFireman, to help understand biking, how to ride and how not to ride. I've watched a lot of these accident and road rage videos to see what to avoid. I've had no one to teach me how to ride but being of a more responsible age group who enjoys life (not age) I've taken the time to study the pros and cons, what I need to observe, what not to do and MOST importantly…to respect my bike and other road users.

I recently shared this channel with a work friend that is going to be taking his riding course in the spring. He was hanging around with some club guys who talked him into joining and even found him a good deal on a used bike. They also had his head filled with a bunch of macho crap about not needing training, gear or experience on the road to be a good rider. Sharing this channel with him really helped change his outlook and now he can't wait for the riding course. He was also like a kid in a candy store when I took him out to a motorcycle shop to gear up. Keep at it Dan, you're helping keep people upright on the road.

Was riding when the Defender video game came out, kicked ass, started back riding a couple years ago, have Defender on Nintendo, suck. Two types of riders, those that have crashed (me, when I was younger), and those who will…it is something someone told me back then. So far I haven't crashed, this time around.

The intersection at 1:00 would be a lot less dangerous if you filtered to the front, thus clearing your sight lines considerably. Are you in one of the states that doesn't legally allow filtering, and if so do the police actually enforce that stupid law?

Since aging increases riding risk to such an extent, at what age do you plan on giving up your 2 wheeled bike riding?
