Dan did you ever figure out what was heating up on the left side?

Thoughts on the FTR being a first bike? Before everyone goes ape shit and say you gotta start on a CBR300 or KAW250 let me explain my thought process on this one. The safety features and different riding modes on the FTR are the ONKY reason I would consider this bike. Plus, it looks fuking bada$$. From what I’ve seen, read, and talked to the dealer about, I that the rain mode really tames the bike down. Also I want new so I don’t have to deal with any initial maintenance issues, so don’t point me in the direction of CL for some used ROM. One other item of note is that I am 41, so I do have a taaaaad bit more maturity and “road” experience on my side. That being said, what do you guys think?

The demo rides I've done they just let you hop on the bike and go for a ride. No chaperone or leader.

Hey Dan, I see you put a luggage rack and side bag on your FTR. I am assuming it is the messenger bag and rack from Indian? Did you have to make any modifications to bolt both side rack and luggage rack on? Thanks Mark.

Thanks very much for the reply Dan. I got the base model trying to figure out what to put on it. Enjoy.

Hey Dan Dan, the Drive Train on the FTR 1200 has a life time warranty. And Indian dealerships will service the FTR for as long as you own it. The local dealer here in Virginia has giving me the Green-light for financing a 2019 FTR 1200, it looks like a early Christmas this year. Hope you got one too.
    Ride Safe Dan Dan.

I got to demo ride a 1200 last Spring. Love to own one. I’ve got a new ninja 1000 and a VFR750. I think I’d get tired of the potato lope lope.
