The Pick of the Day is a 1988 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ62 being advertised by its private owner on ClassicCars.com because, the seller notes, “I have recently purchased a business and have not had time to really spend with the Land Cruiser and (am) looking to sell to someone who can enjoy this for years to come.”
With their inline-6-cylinder engines, Toyota’s off-road workhorse Land Cruisers were rugged, long-lasting vehicles, so that “years to come” comment seems appropriate.
“This Cruiser started its life as a California vehicle and found its way to Georgia 8 years ago,” the seller reports. “Since then, it has been stored inside and only driven as a weekend cruiser.
“This particular Land Cruiser has been serviced by one of the best Toyota specialists in the Southeast and with only a few mechanical upgrades this vehicle will log another 200,000+ miles.”
The seller adds that during the past year, a 2-inch Ironman lift kit has been installed and “has drastically increased the ride quality.”
Also installed were a steering damper, new FJ40-style wheels and BFG All-Terrain K)2 tires, as well as “an awesome roof rack from Front Runner.”
Toyota launched the Land Cruiser in 1951 as a Jeep-style vehicle. The FJ60 version was produced from 1980 to 1990 and featured a more comfortable interior and such features as air conditioning to compete with the blossoming global market for sport utility vehicles.
The FJ Land Cruiser offered on ClassicCars.com is in Cartersville, Georgia, is white with blue interior, has its original inline-6 engine (presumably a 4.0-liter unit) and an automatic transmission. The seller reports it has been driven 254,000 miles, has power steering and brakes, and has been “partially restored.”
