The shocking robbery plays out like a scene from a movie, where thankfully, the only casualties were the cars

This is not a video game or movie shoot, but real life in one of the world’s largest cities.

A luxury vehicle has been used in a daring daytime heist, with tens of thousands of dollars stolen in front of shocked witnesses.

The Mercedes continues to ram the Toyota until it is disabled, where an armed assailant exits the coupe and threatens the Toyota driver, before taking a bag from the RAV4 and speeding away.

The incident occurred in an affluent area of New York City – which boasts the most amount of police officers in the world – on the Upper East Side of Manhattan (Second Ave. and 91st Street).

As reported by the New York Post, the thieves made away with a bag containing $US20,000 in cash ($AU30,000) and dumped the stolen Mercedes-Benz a few blocks away.

The stricken S-Class suffered considerable front-end damage (the bumper, grille and lights can be seen littering the road on the video) but was still able to make a hasty getaway thanks to the 345kW/700Nm 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8.

There were no reports of any injuries and per the NYP article, the gangsters are still on the loose.
