An explosion at a suspension factory which supplies to Toyota has forced the Japanese car company to pause production at six factories, adding to long wait times for Australian customers.
In what is expected to be another setback for customers stuck in the queue for a new Toyota in Australia, an explosion at a supplier’s factory has forced the car giant to pause production at six of its factories in Japan.
While Toyota Australia is yet to update local customers on how the latest round of production interruptions will impact the already-extended wait times, at this stage it’s unknown how long the production pause will continue.
The explosion is understood to have occurred on Monday afternoon local time at the drying furnace of Chuo Spring – a company which provides suspension components to the Japanese car-maker – with its factory located in the city of Toyota.
Two men were injured in the explosion, with one taken to hospital for treatment.
The cause of the accident is currently being investigated, according to Chuo Spring.
