This electric SUV concept could form a part of Toyota’s plans to launch 10 electric vehicles globally by 2026.

Toyota has unveiled the FT-3e electric SUV, a concept which is expected to preview a future battery-powered production model from the Japanese car giant.
First teased last week, covers came off the FT-3e today at the Tokyo motor show, along with a number of other Toyota electric concept cars.
The facia of the Toyota FT-3e adopts the company’s latest design language, with the electric concept featuring a long wheelbase and short overhangs at the front and rear.
The FT-3e’s bonnet also adopts two large vents, though it’s not known what they are cooling in the electric SUV’s front end.
On the front edge of the driver’s and passenger’s door is a display which shows both a temperature reading and the battery’s state of charge, allowing owners to take a quick glance when approaching the SUV while it is charging to see its status.
At the rear, the FT-3e adopts a coupe-esque back window which aggressively slopes downwards towards the boot lid – while a pair of C-pillar extensions protrude from the back window.
Inside, Toyota’s concept SUV is fitted with a unique steering wheel with just one spoke (located at the bottom), allowing a clearer view of the digital dash mounted to the steering column.
To the left of the driver is a touchscreen shifter while a smartphone mount appears to be on the right, located next to a large offset-mounted infotainment screen.
Rather than traditional exterior mirrors, the FT-3e uses cameras which feed back to screens located below its A-pillars.
While Toyota is yet to confirm whether the FT-3e will go into production, the Japanese car giant has previously announced its plans to launch 10 electric vehicles by 2026.
